The actions implemented in the first nine months of the Plan can reduce in a third the population without broadband access in Galicia. The first deployments were in areas with more difficult access, this enables that, before the end of the year, 34,000 people in more than 2,000 population centres in Southern Lugo and its environs can have Internet access.
Besides, nearly 37,000 people in over 150 rural galician villages without coverage can also have Internet this year. In addition, the infrastructures implantation is carried out jointly with Pontevedra and Ourense Provincial Council and will allow in 2010 the network access to over 136,000 and almost 75,000, respectively, in areas without coverage.
Before the end of the year, almost 52,000 galicians will have 100 Mbps speeds due to the introduction of Next Generation Networks. Most of the public administrative centres and more than the half of industrial parks and industrial areas with lacks of coverage also will have Internet access this year. |
