IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) has approved WiMAX 2, the latest version of wireless data transmission technology using radio waves.
The new standard: 802.16m, known as WiMAX 2, offers a quality improvement over current technology based on the 802.16e standard, supporting end-user speeds of: 120Mbps download and 60Mbps upload, simultaneously with lower latency and higher VoIP capacity.
The new technology WiMAX 2 is going to be compatible with the previous standard, so the operators that use it, could offer new speeds to their customers with a base stations software update and network cards.
Colabora Ingenieros has put confidence in this wireless transmission technology from the begining, integrating it into its projects, both business and residencial.
Despite the WiMAX 2 approval, the definitive implementation and deployment it's not expected until next 2012. |
